WHAT IS PLASTIC SURGERY
Is Plastic surgery in today’s society a good thing to consider as a beauty enhancement tool? Is getting the features like your favourite celeb worth it? The word plastic originates from the Greek word plastikos, which means to form or mould. There are two different type of plastic surgery, Cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic Surgery is when you want a particular part or your body improved and enhanced. Most common type of plastic surgery is the Liposuction, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and tummy tuck.

Cosmetic surgery is waste of money
Twice as many women opt for
plastic surgery then men. But it is still quite common for men to also consider
plastic surgery usually rhinoplasty, eye lid surgery. Procedures such as botox
or laser hair removal might not alert the bells in our head that it might be
cosmetic surgery. But these two are the most common type of non surgical
plastic surgery. Teens young as 16 years old want or already might have had
laser hair removal or botox. But this is all a waste of money. As plastic surgery can lead to addiction.
Also many people start regretting ever getting surgery. One of the most famous
cases is of Pete burns and Jocleyn. Jocelyn was not satisfied with her looks
after the surgery, which led to her addiction to plastic surgery. Now she is
known as the $4 million monster, can you believe it she threw away $4million to
look like a monster. Even celebs like Heidi Montag said in an interview that
she regrets getting plastic surgery. It is the way our society is structured that if we
don’t have the perfect features, we will feel self conscious, and it affects our
self esteem. So many people start thinking about plastic surgery
from an early age. But what we don’t consider are the risks involved.

cosmetic surgery horror
When we have saved up enough for the particular surgery that we want. Very excited we hop in the nearest clinic to see the physician, so that he/she can work the magic on you as well. But what we don’t consider are the risks involved with cosmetic surgery. Even thou the risks are not that high but they are there and people need to be aware of any risks that might be involved. Usually people don’t take the risk seriously, they often believe that chances of serious infection from the surgery will not happen to them. The most common place people go wrong is when they are selecting their surgeon. People often go for the cheapest option available. They don’t notice if the surgeon is qualified to perform that surgical procedure on them. The risks are so high that it can even lead to death. According to abc news, so far there have been 36 death due to cosmetic surgery. Procedures such as liposuction, which is one of the most common surgeries and also known to have low risks resulted in a death of 38 year old women in 2011. But why look at these people when we usually want to follow the Hollywood lead, we don’t have to look too far to see cosmetic surgery disasters in Hollywood. Pete burns and Jocelyn Wildenstein is one the worst cases for cosmetic surgeries gone wrong.

Reconstructive surgery
Reconstructive surgery is another form of plastic surgery,
but it is different from the classic cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery
is done to restore the original look of a person or repair the damage done to
the body due to many factors such as burns, birth defects etc. I think
reconstructive surgery is good option as it can help people live a normal life.
Today many fall victim to attacks that can leave scars and trauma for a life
time. Reconstructive surgery is not done because people are not happy with
their looks it is done to restore a person’s looks. Reconstructive surgery help
people like Katie Piper take stand in society. It gives people a chance to be
normal again. Katie Piper had fallen victim to a acid attack in 2008. With the
help of many reconstructive surgeries done to save and restore her face, Katie has
once again gained confidence of being in public.

Plastic surgery is dangerous
I think when plastic surgery is done for the purpose of
cosmetic enhancement then I m completely against it. People should be
comfortable in their own skin. We never hear animals changing their skins or
fur, so why don’t the humans feel comfortable with how they
look. I thought humans were higher up in hierarchy of intelligence. A major
influence is due to the glamorous Hollywood. People want to copy the
features of the celebrities that they are ready to spend thousands of dollars
to create the perfect image of their self. But Hollywood is often wrong and
misleading and should never be look upon as a role model. Even after people
spend the big buck on their look they are still not happy, then they go for
more procedures leading to addiction to plastic surgery. Resulting in
disfiguration of their face. People
only realise that plastic surgery is not the best option is after they have
spent huge amount of money and they are still not satisfied with their looks.
The only time plastic surgery should be considered is when it is done to restore
a person’s looks. Often disfigured people don’t fit in the society as they feel
they will be looked down on, they feel they might not be accepted in the
society. Reconstructive surgery in not
only done to restore your looks it is also done to remove tumours. So not all
plastic surgeries are bad. But what is I think the problem is, the desire to
look like Barbie. Many young girls want to look like dolls and they want to do
that at any cost even if it means going under the knife.
